Stephen L. Hughes is an active percussion performer, ensemble director, and private lesson instructor throughout the state of Utah. In Utah, Mr. Hughes is currently the Director of Percussion at Lehi High School and Willowcreek Middle School. Prior to his appointment at LHS and WMS, Mr. Hughes completed a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance at the University of Utah under the direction of Dr. Michael Sammons and Professor Douglas Wolf. He graduated in May 2015, where he was a teaching assistant in the musicology area and performed in various ensembles. Mr. Hughes holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education (K-12) from the University of Tennessee at Martin where he studied with Dr. Julie Hill. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in May of 2011. Prior to Utah, he taught middle school band from 2011-2013 at Lexington Middle School in Lexington, TN.
